The dried minced leaves of the yerba mate are placed inside a gourd called "mate" usually made from a regional species of pumpkin dries (Porongo) and treated with secondhand “yerba” , this makes that the pumpkin acquires, before the use, the particular flavor of the ”Yerba”, so that the mate taste better . There is placed an infusion of “yerba” (dry and cut sheets that for the common thing one takes alone and occasionally accompanied with medicinal grasses), covering almost 3/4 you depart from the receptacle. Slowly ,hot water is added. The greenish infusion is sucked through a "bombilla", a metal straw which has a strainer at its lower end to prevent the minced leaves from reaching the mouth.
